TDK Semiconductor focuses on the communications IC market, especially the data transmission field, including high-speed network, remote data processing terminals and satellite television STBs (set up boxes). TDK Semiconductor started to produce ICs about 20 years ago and had been the communication product division of Silicon System,Inc. until 1996. It was acquired by TDK in 1989 to become a part of the TDK Group Company. Currently the company is a leader in a range of fields including network products, embedded devices, and multi-media products. Headquartered in Tustin, California, TDK Semiconductor operates a number of design centers in California, Yawata and features a global sales network, with its products manufactured by OEMs in the US and Far East.
