Foreign media: the United States has again imposed a ban on Chinese chip companies

The us Commerce Department said Friday it will start restricting sales of software and technology products to jinhua integrated circuit co LTD in fujian province.

The move by the Commerce Department follows a lawsuit filed in California federal court in December by micron technologies, the largest U.S. memory chip maker, alleging that jinhua stole the company's technology. Jinhua then sued micron in a court in China's fujian province in January and won a provisional ruling that temporarily banned the sale of some of its products in China.

Fujian jinhua integrated circuit co LTD has been placed on a "list of entities" that cannot purchase components, software and technology products from us companies, the us Commerce Department said on Tuesday.

The move, which reportedly escalates an earlier commercial dispute into an international trade conflict between China and the United States, could spark new tensions between the two countries.

In response, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson lu kang stressed at a regular press conference on oct 30, 2018 that the Chinese government always requires its enterprises to conduct outbound investment cooperation in accordance with market principles and in accordance with local laws and regulations. China has always asked foreign governments to give fair and reasonable treatment to Chinese enterprises and provide a favorable environment for Chinese enterprises to conduct investment and cooperation in relevant countries or regions. It is hoped that the us side will do more things conducive to china-us mutual trust and cooperation, rather than the contrary.

In addition, a spokesperson of China's ministry of commerce said in a statement that the us had included fujian jinhua in its list of entities for export control. China urges the us side to take measures to immediately stop wrong practices, facilitate and promote normal trade and cooperation between enterprises of both sides, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises of both sides.
